Hope's Story

Me and my mom had been out cruising garage sales in June/July of 2000 for something to do when we found Hope in the middle of the road on Hatzic Island. My mom thought it was a bird at first but we soon realized it was a kitten. I got my mom to stop and I went out and picked her up, I had expected her to run away but she just stood there. I brought her in the car and realized that she was badly malnurished, severly dehydrated(I pinched her skin and it never went back down again), she had a eye and nose infection, and to top it off she was infested with fleas and lice! She also seemed to be only 2-3 weeks old...needless to say we didn't continue our garage sale hopping.
When we got her home I gave her a flea bath where dried blood washed away then a normal bath after that. My mom went out to get kitten formula while I was doing this, then when she got back I fed her it. That night I put her in a box in the garage with a heating bottle and got up every 2 hours to feed her the formula. After a couple days of this(we also put her on penicillin for her eye/nose infection)me and my friend got her to excersize by chasing her around the garage, it may sound cruel but she hadn't gone to the bathroom those past few days we had her and we needed some way to get her blood going. This seemed to do the trick because after that she went outside and to the bathroom. Hope got better after that but she still wasn't 100% so we sent her up to my aunts place because her cat had kittens a couple weeks beforehand.
Up at my aunts cabin(she lived on a mountain) Hope managed to drown herself in my aunts toilet where my cousin found her and revived her. Not only that but she also jumped off my aunts deck where luckily she landed in a bush :) Hopes had many a death experiences and I have no idea just how many lives she has left...not to many i'm sure. After all this though she finally got to come back where she went to live with my sister for awhile, but not long after that and she was back with me.
While Hope was with us she had 2 litters one on November 3rd, 2001 where she had 2 tabby males, 2 tabby females, and 2 black females - all had 4 white socks, chests, faces and stomachs. The second litter was on May 25, 2002 this time having 3 male tabbys, and 1 female tabby...Once again all have 4 white socks, chests, faces and stomachs! The kittens names were as follows: first litter - Bailey (male), BrownNoser (male), HalfFace (female), Runt (female), China (blk female), and Eek (blk female); second litter - Bernadette (female), Stripe (male), Tiger (male), and Kaggar (male).
UPDATE (Aug. 24, 2002): We gave Hope and 2 remaining kittens (Tiger and Kaggar) to a farm in Matsqui for them to hopefully have a better life, with mousing and birding all day long and crunchies when they aren't hunting...They will be missed..Hope most of all even if she was kind of an evil cat :)
